Clara C APAC Tour 2011 - Kuala Lumpur

LA based singer/songwriter, Clara C performed live in Kuala Lumpur last November as part of her Asia Pacific tour 2011!

Independent artiste - Charles J Tan was on tour together with Clara and opened for her during the show in Kuala Lumpur a fortnight ago.


Many aesthetic fans began queuing up to enter the Bentley Auditorium in Mutiara Damansara hours before the show began.

Shortly after 8PM, Charles began the show with a slow introduction and fans clapped along to the melody. After he was finished with his first track, energetic fans applauded and Charles exclaimed that it was the first time he got that many cheers even for the first song.

He proceeded with a few cover songs. He started with 'Personal Anthem', then interacted with fans for a short moment. Fans from Malaysia, Singapore & Australia each cheered when their country was called out by Charles.

The show was continued with a slow cover - 'Almost Sunday'. Charles claimed his heart was pounding fast as the first cover was a quick paced track. Nevertheless, his melodic voice got the audiences serenaded.

Afterwards, He changed to his ukulele and blended in a different style to the song 'Yellow' by Coldplay. His harmonic vocals paired with the tunes churned out by the ukulele got the crowd swaying.

The crowd gave Charles a long applause and welcomed Clara onto the stage.

Clara came on stage immediately and said excitedly "Happy freaking Malaysia, how are ya'll doing?" She got the crowd to stand up and kicked off with her new song - 'Quesadilla'. Her song incorporated many funky tunes and powerful vocals.

She promised everyone that she'll be back in Malaysia with her band if they behaved. Her following track was 'The Camel Song', fans who were familiar with the song sang along with Clara.

Clara invited the special prize winners onto the stage and a lucky fan got to play her guitar, he also got a warm hug from Clara before going off the stage which triggered much envy among other fans.

She sang the cover of Far East Movement's 'Rocketeer' with her own unique style, playing by-ear only. Check her cover out:


She finally got all the fans to take their sit again and shared a short story of herself. The show proceeded with a new track by Clara which was about another side of herself.

Clara learnt how to say "I'm hungry" in Malay and continued performing her single - 'Heartstrings'. She definitely caught many fans' heartstrings with that song. A fan who was waving his phone frantically which had a large banner text on the screen saying "You're awesome!" caught Clara's attention.

She performed Offbeat and the fans sang along while clapping their hands in a uniformed motion.

Clara invited Charles back onto the stage again and performed a duet together - Little Light. The song was an original track composed by Clara herself & Sam Ock.

Clara ended her show with 'Fish', fans gave her a warm & lengthy applause while yelling for an encore at the same time.

The meet & greet session was held after that, every fan who purchased Clara & Charles' merchandise were entitled for the autograph/photograph session.

Being an avid fanboy, I managed to get an autograph & photograph with both Clara & Charles too. Thank you Monsoon Productions for making this possible!
