LG GD510 a.k.a Pop review

LG GD510, also known as the Pop. An innovative and compact touchscreen bar.
6
Featuring mainly a 3" touchscreen, an easy 3 way interface, a 3MP camera & also a multimedia player, the Pop doesnt stop here.
7
The Pop also boasts of having eco friendly features & many other cool features stuffed into this small box.

It is made up of hazardous free material, which includes PVC. Offers a beeping alert when charging is finished to prevent wastage of electricity and it's packaging is made up from recycled paper with soy ink printing.

Picture2
The Pop comes in 2 colours - Silver & Black. Each phone's colour has 1 normal back cover & also has 2 different fun & colourful back covers given together in the box.

I really liked the design & feel of the Pop. Measuring at 97.8(h) x 49.5(w) x 11.2(d) mm and weighs just 87g, this compact bar gives users like me a nice grip of the phone in my palm. Despite the small size, the Pop has a 3" full touchscreen and a smart all-in-one button that acts as a Call/End/Clear/Home button. It also supports up to 8GB MicroSD memory card.

12
Although the back cover is plastic, it looks alike an authentic brushed chrome back cover, giving owners a slightly more luxurious feel.
11
9
A 4.8mm thin bezel around the screen with a matte silver casing alongside a couple of chrome buttons around the phone here and there.

The power button on the top works not only to turn the phone ON/OFF, it also acts as a lock key with a short press on the button. The camera button also brings up your favourite applications page on-screen upon pressing it once shortly. The volume keys on the other side also work as zoom keys when the camera is in use.

1 thing I like about this Pop is the way people SMS with it.
1
The QWERTY on-screen keyboard when the phone is in horizontal mode. The size was perfect for my thumbs to SMS. But I'm sorry to say this, those with big thumbs should avoid using the QWERTY keyboard. You might accidentally press a wrong key and end up backspacing more than typing the message.

Unlike other expensive touchscreen phones that try to offer the best in their phone, this reasonably priced Pop comes with all the base essentials like a music player, video player, camera, FM radio as well as E-Mail support. It doesnt come with 3G/WiFi, instead it uses GPRS/EDGE to get online. Surprisingly it doesnt lag much, so users should expect very mild delays on their phone.

13
The Pop runs on LG's very own A-Class interface, a more lightweight version compared to LG's S-Class interface like what you see on the more pricey Arena/Crystal/Chocolate BL40 etc. Users will get a more luxurious & classy feel with a small price tag.

The Pop also has a ratherly simple music player interface. Put aside all the unwanted/not necessary icons and menu's, users can also play music directly on their homepage without needing to enter the music player.
4
5
The music player worked well, though it got sluggish when I loaded more songs in it. Also the sound quality deteriorates much after volume 15 (Note that volume 15 is already loud enough) Max volume is 25.

Another thing which I liked about the Pop is this application - The Weather Forecast app.
14
It tells you the weather and temperature forecast around your area, and users may also check the forecast for the next 3 days. This app requires the internet to work, though. So try using it when you get a good reception signal.

The camera isnt something worth shouting about. The 3megapixel camera snaps at 2048 x 1537 resolution without pixilation. Didnt try taking a video with this baby though. Below are sample shots taken by the Pop & edited using the editing tool on the phone itself.

The MicroUSB port located on the bottom left side of the phone is used for the handsfree kit, charging the phone and also data transfer from/to the PC.
3
A compact charger is also provided. It uses the MicroUSB cable provided to plug into the phone for charging, saves up space. A single charge lasts about 2 days upon normal usage, with regular calls & SMS coming in/going out. The Pop also has an add-on Solar Power Battery Cover, but it will be sold separately from the phone.

The pocket applications are really fun to use and good for wasting time if you're bored.

I hope this review gives you a good sight on what the phone is/isnt capable of. It's reasonably priced so users wont have to feel a massive heartache when purchasing this phone.

U-KISS Private Fan Meeting in Malaysia : Part 1

In case you dont know who U-KISS is, they're an uprising & hot K-Pop (Korean Pop) sensation which are not only hot looking, but also hot on the charts.

Event was organized by Geneses Dream Entertainment, a ratherly new event company to the scene, but I must say they handled the event very well. It was Daebak! *2 thumbs up*

U-KISS visited Malaysia last Saturday for a private fan meeting and showcase as a part of their Asia tour. They were in the Phillipines before Malaysia, and headed to Singapore 1 day after the fan meeting in Malaysia.

The fan meeting was held in KLCC's Plenary Hall, from 2pm till 5.30pm. With minor glitches here and there, they started slightly behind time, but it was all worth the wait.

Photo session together with the owner of Daorae Korean BBQ Restaurant during the press conference.

Started the day with a U-KISS press conference over in Mandarin Oriental's ballroom, they were staying there if I'm not mistaken. U-KISS confessed that they really love Malaysia and cant wait to come back here for a concert! The press conference was followed up by a Q&A session for all members of the media and press.

Thanks to all the fans, there wasnt any sign of screaming/shouting in the hotel, unlike other fan accounts you've been reading. Very good crowd this time around. Cheers to Malaysian KISS ME's!

Image00003
The queue to enter the plenary hall started as early as 10.30am! It got longer as time passed, but all members of media, press & VIP didn't have to line up to enter via the special entrance.

Image00004
At 1.00pm, the gates opened and ticket holders were finally allowed to enter the hall. 8TV Nite Live was there doing a coverage as well, met Moe, Mike & Baki Zainal over there slightly before the event started.

Fans cheering just before the main stars of the day came out. Supporting U-KISS with the official light stick sold by KISS ME's & MyStar Collection Trading.

One FM's Ryan Yong was present as the MC of the event.
Image00039

Ryan did a short introduction, said a few words, delayed no more and invited U-KISS out onto the stage. He also mentioned what was in for all the audience that day. Games, autograph sessions, performances & album giveaways.

After a long wait, the boys themselves finally made their way onto the stage!

Image00006
Ki Bum. Previously a Xing member, but was the first to join U-KISS together with Kevin!
Image00007
Eli. Apparently everyone in U-KISS is jealous of him because of his looks! *Info gotten from the press conference, was a joke between the members I assume*
Image00008
Kevin. The nicest & gentle one amongst all!
Image00009
Soo Hyun. The one with the sexiest voice!
Image00011
Dong Ho. The maknae (youngest member) of U-KISS, 1994-er. Same like me, but he's an international super star already!
Image00012
Alexander. He was born in Hong Kong, he grew up in Macau, and he's capable of speaking 7 languages!
Image00013
Ki Seop. The newest member of U-KISS!

Fans were going wild over them, and what's better is, a few lucky guests were chosen to go on the stage for a game session, the prize was a hug from U-KISS themselves! But everyone on the stage got to hug them anyway, win or lose.

Image00010
Soo Hyun 'yawning' because Kevin was taking too long to choose a lucky guest to play the game.

Image00014
Kevin dancing to 'Oh!' together with a lucky guest on stage, the pair of bunny ear hairband was a gift from the guest.

Also, after the games session, the MC announced that it was going to be maknae Dong Ho's birthday in a few days, hence the organizers brought a cake out to be celebrated with the rest of the members.
Image00017
Everyone taking pictures of U-KISS preparing to cut maknae Dong Ho's cake, it's his sweet 16th cake!

Image00015
Image00016
Maknae Dong Ho making a wish before blowing the candles on the cake while everyone in the hall sings him a Happy Birthday song in Malay language & in Hangul as well. Very impressive!

Grand Opening of Chillex, Puchong

Last week, I attended the grand launch of Chillex in Bandar Puteri Puchong. The restaurant's concept is a place for people to chill & relax while enjoying a nice and reasonably priced meal while being entertained by the huge projector screen and TV's located inside the restaurant.

Image00002
The founders of Chillex cutting the ribbon, signifying the grand opening of this bar & restaurant!

The inside of Chillex offers a decent amount of sitting place, also paired up with couple seats, it makes the bar & restaurant the ideal place for having a meal together. Not forgetting big tables for families and friends.

Image00009
Pepperoni Thin Crust Pizza, tasted good. Nothing can go wrong with this dish though. (Provided the chef doesnt burn the crust of the pizza lol)
Image00011
The huge Chillex Burger, very big piece of patty and plate is filled with fries.
It's on the house if you can finish it alone within 20 minutes.
Image00015
Patty is 5 inches in diameter.
Definitely something worth to try if you're up for the challenge!
Image00018
Image00019
Dining area for the young & the old. As you can see, it was full house that night!

Chillex isnt THAT hard to be found if your bearings are correct. A map is provided below to ease your search =)
